OPERATIONS RISK MANAGER

Gulf African Bank, the leading Islamic Bank and Financial Services provider in Kenya, is growing and expanding and wishes to recruit an Operations Risk Manager. Reporting to the Head of Risk and Compliance, the successful candidate will identify, measure and analyze the various enterprise-wide Operations Risks that the Bank faces and formulate strategies on how to mitigate and minimize the risk exposures.

The key result areas of this position will include:

•Assisting in designing and implementing an overall Operational Risk Policy management framework across the Bank.

•Developing and communicating the Operations risk appetite and risk limits that will be applied by the business and support units.

•Assisting in the development of Operations risk mitigation strategies for the Bank’s critical operations and monitoring the same.

•Working with Business and Operations units within the Bank to establish, maintain and continuously improve risk management capabilities.

•Coordinating the Operational Risk Self Assessment (ORSA) framework across the various Business and Support units.

•Ensuring the Bank identifies, measures, reports and minimizes Operations and Market risk exposures.

•Generating regular reports that monitor the various risk exposures that the Bank faces – Operations Risks, Technology Risks, Risk Events and Loss Data Base.

•Reviewing Bank processes to ensure that adequate controls are in place to identify, monitor and control risks associated with the processes.

Knowledge and skills required:

•University degree in a business related field

•Relevant post graduate professional qualification (AKIB/ACIB/MBA/CPA/ACCA) will be an added advantage

•A minimum of 5 years overall banking experience gained preferably in Risk or Credit Departments

•Good understanding of relevant regulatory requirements, CBK Prudential and Risk Management guidelines

•Sound knowledge of Bank processes and procedures •Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

•Organizing, analytical and planning skills

•Ability to work with all levels of management and across branches and departments
